Kloof SPCA rescues puppy stuck in drain

The pooch was rescued after spending more than 30 hours in the drainage system of a Reservoir Hills home.

ONE of the Kloof and Highway SPCA’s field officers spent their Sunday rescuing a furry friend from a drain in Reservoir Hills.

According to the non-profit organisation, it received a phone call early on Sunday morning from the puppy’s owners to say the dog had been stuck in the drain for more than 24 hours.

Field Officer Eric Simamane arrived at the property at 7am and began the arduous task of digging and cutting into pipes to rescue the little pooch. He dug up three spaces and, after six hours of non-stop searching, he found the puppy.

“The puppy was dehydrated and weak and was rushed to the Kloof and Highway SPCA for treatment and observation. Thank you field officer Eric for this incredible save!” said the organisation’s manager, Barbara Patrick.
