SA’s number one soccer development programme

Founded in 1990, Grasshopper Soccer is an international curriculum that has been working with schools and presenting its programme as an essential extramural activity. Grasshopper Soccer provides building blocks for children to improve their game and their character.

“Soccer is more than just a game and we see Grasshopper Soccer as a valuable addition to children’s learning over a short but important time of their lives,” said manager and coach Jeremy Peters.

Grasshopper Soccer is offered as an extramural at local schools and teaches children aged 2-12 the basics of playing soccer in a fun and social environment.

“We recognise the importance of developing skills in an easy going way, allowing the kids to develop relationships with their teammates, promoting social and mental awareness along with improving physical prowess. We know that the social interaction involved in our programmes is just as important as any one ball skill. The children learn how to interact in a stress-free environment, learning how to share, take turns, listen to instructions, and work as a team.”

Jeremy says their objective is to focus on delivery and education, strengthening their position as motivators and coaches, promoting soccer skills and healthy lifestyles.

“This sees our participants grow socially, physically and mentally. We believe that parental involvement is a key element at Grasshopper Soccer. We encourage parents to support their children, especially in those programmes designed for younger players.”

The programmes run all year round, on weekdays and weekends. Programmes are offered during the school term and a great range of holiday programmes are also presented.
