Blood service reaches out to schools

SANBS thanked all the regular donors and Atholl Heights Primary School for always being willing to support them.

WITH the winter season upon us, The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) hosted one of their big blood drives at Atholl Heights Primary School last Friday, May 17.

Head of Donor Relations KZN Neelashan Govender said that during winter, it becomes difficult to collect blood as people get infected with flu viruses which makes it hard for people to be able to donate blood.

“We have a new initiative, and our aim is to get schools, especially primary schools where there are no regular drives, to support us by hosting blood drives.

“The blood drives in schools will help us collect the units we need as with the school holidays coming up, we need all the support we can get as our stocks are currently low,” said public relations officer Anele Ngcobo.

Govender extended his gratitude to all the regular donors and Atholl Heights Primary School for always being willing to support them.
