Tina Cowley Reading Centres

Reading forms the basis of learning and academic success, and research has shown that 20 – 30% of our children are underachieving because their basic skills of reading and learning are not on standard.

At the Tina Cowley Reading Centres in Queensburgh and Westville, we understand that a learning problem is a reading problem. We are a progressive Centre, and by means of a scientific assessment, we are able to pinpoint exactly where a problem lies. Through therapy, using effective and unique teaching methods, along with the Cowley Keyboard, we are able to address the needs of each individual so that their basic reading skills: phonological processing, letter recognition along with reading with comprehension, spelling, and language are on standard.

The Tina Cowley Reading Centres in Queensburgh and Westville have developed a confidence building, non-threatening environment where our learners are able to begin the journey of reaching the potential they are more than capable of.

Our centres assist:

  1. Preschool children whose parents want to ensure their child’s basic skills are on track
  2. School going children who experience reading with comprehension difficulties and who are just not reaching their potential
  3. School going children who have not grasped phonic and decoding skills
  4. Second language learners
  5. Gifted Preschool/school going children wanting to forge ahead
  6. Handicapped people tested as non-educable
  7. Effective study courses based on an individual’s learning preferences – for Grade 4 – 12
  8. English or Afrikaans

Contact Wendy to book an assessment for your child. Feedback is given to the parents once the assessment is done. It is Wendy’s aim to ensure parents leave the feedback session with a sound knowledge of where their child’s difficulties lie and a feeling of hopefulness that, with the right intervention, these difficulties will be addressed.
