Blood donors receive awards of honour

To reward their frequent donors, the South African Blood Services (SANBS) hosted a special day at the Gold Reef City Casino.

The South African National Blood Service (SANBS) presented its annual Egoli East Donor Awards ceremony on September 3 at Gold Reef City Casino, where nearly 100 unsung heroes were recognised.

Donors who gave 25, 50, 75, 100, 125, 150, 175, 200, 225, 250, 275, 300, 325, 350, 375, 400 and more than 425 units of blood each received a certificate.

The top achiever received an award for donating 425 pints.

According to Alex, blood donors are unaware of who will get their donation, but to the beneficiary, it is a gift of life.
