Heatwave to continue until possibly Thursday

The South African Weather Service has warned that large parts of South Africa is being hit by severe heatwave conditions, expected to continue until Thursday, if not a day later, in certain areas.

Gauteng is currently in the grip of the heatwave, with today’s temperature reaching 34 degrees Celsius.

Possible showers are predicted for Thursday evening which could provide some relief.

The intense heat, however, could only break by the weekend if the rain stays away.

Until the rain comes, temperatures of around 39 degrees Celsius is expected for Ekurhuleni on Thursday and possibly on Friday.

With this mind, the South African Weather Services advises people to drink more water no matter one’s activity levels and avoiding prolonged stays under the sun.

It is also advised that owners must make sure pets have enough water to drink throughout the day.
