Lutheran Church donates school shoes
The Reformed Lutheran Church in Vosloorus donated 18 pairs of school shoes to the needy learners of Khayelihle Primary School on February 3.
The school is situated in one of the underprivileged areas of the township – Mabuya Park – and it caters to learners who are mostly from Sotho Section, Zulu Section as well Woolf Informal Settlements.
Parish Pastor Gototo Ramasodi said as the church they spent more than R4500 trying to make a difference in the lives of children in the township.
“What the church did might look small but it will mean a lot to the children as they will no longer have a problem of going to school barefooted in cold weather in winter,” said Ramasodi.
The shoes were received by Mable Maimane and will be donated to the school on the date that is yet to be set after the school representatives and the church members sat down and agreed. Maimane is head of the life orientation department at the school and a member of the church.
Church elders, as well as members of the of Young Adults and Youth League, also blessed the event with their presence.
