Rosemary Ndlovu will be back in court in September

Rosemary Nomia Ndlovu appeared in Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on July 7 on two charges of conspiracy to commit murder.

Ndlovu was sentenced to six life terms in prison last year for the murders of five of her family members and her partner, as well as for perverting the course of justice.

She appeared with co-accused Nomsa Mudau who appeared on one count of conspiracy to commit murder.

Mudau chose to conceal her face by wearing a mask and a beanie whilst Ndlovu posed for the media.

Both women are former police officers and were in court on charges related to conspiring to murder two police officers and Mudau’s ex-husband.

Charges were brought against Ndlovu as it is alleged she organised “a hit” on the officers investigating the case against her.

The officers were Sergeant Keshi Benneth Mabunda and Colonel Nthipe Boloka, the station commander of Tembisa South Police Station where Ndlovu had worked.

It was previously reported that the court was informed that the officers became aware of the plot to assassinate them shortly after the “hitman” approached them with the information.

The police have not been able to locate a woman who Ndlovu is said to have been plotting with to murder Mabunda while she was in prison. A warrant for her arrest is in place.

Ndlovu and Mudau are also accused of conspiring to kill Justice Mudau, Nomsa’s now-ex-husband.

His death would have allowed her to cash in on insurance policies.

Ndlovu’s previous court appearance on May 31 was postponed to July 7 so that the court could address a concern regarding officer Mabunda allegedly questioning and trying to gather information about attorney Baloyi-Makamu.

Baloyi-Makamu withdrew from the case and notified Mabunda’s supervisors.

She missed the last court proceedings and a colleague, Advocate Maloatane, then addressed the court alleging that Mabunda had called a prosecutor at Thembisa courts, asking about Baloyi-Makamu’s whereabouts.

Mabunda then denied the claims.

At Ndlovu’s most recent court appearance, her legal aid representative changed her position about claims that Mabunda had asked coworkers “inappropriate and personal questions” about her.

Baloyi-Makamu testified on Thursday, confirming what state prosecutor Riana Williams had said to the court that there was “a misunderstanding”.

She testified that an apology had been issued and that the situation had been resolved. The case was postponed to September 15.
