Wanted suspect arrested during protest in Thembisa
The suspect, wanted by the police for allegedly assaulting his 5-year-old nephew, in the midst of the crowd.
The members of the Tembisa Community Forum kept the Thembisa police, Springs POP, and the Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department busy on the morning of April 24.

The TCF formed a line near Makhulong Stadium and marched to the Winnie Mandela Customer Care Center.
This was after they cut electricity to more than half of the Thembisa residents’ homes.
The TCF planned to deliver a memorandum of grievances.
The unusual price increases in rent from the municipal offices were another issue raised by the locals.
While everyone’s attention was on the march, an unidentified man approached sergeants Mgijima and Nokeri to inform them he spotted a suspect wanted by the police for allegedly assaulting his five-year-old nephew in the crowd.

The sergeants quietly detained the 32-year-old man for the assault GBH case.
The suspect will appear in the Tembisa Magistrate’s Court soon.
Captain Maremane, the operational commander, praised the community members who served as the march marshals for ensuring that there was no intimidation, violence, or arson throughout the event.
Instead, they helped the police make the arrest.
