IN the past two weeks, water pipe systems at four different places burst in Glen Marais.
According to a resident, even though the municipality has been repairing the leaks and bursts bit by bit, the pipes continue to burst.
Water pipes on Wonderboom, corner of Wonderboom and Rietbos, corner of Quinine and Haak-en-Steek and corner of Quinine and Frangipane streets keep on bursting.
“There have been issues since about two years ago with the pipe on Wonderboom Street, which they fixed the first time in 2013. The pipe burst again on Monday, October 27,” the resident said.
The second pipe, at the corner of Quinine and Haak-en-Steek streets, burst the next day on the Tuesday.
“The problem is that municipality only replaces one pipe at a time and not the whole system. The team leader of the repairs team from the metro said they did not have enough funds to replace the whole system.”
