Age is no barrier for this youngster
When jobs are in short supply, many of people consider self-employment, deciding to rather create their own business and thereby define their own future.
Local beautician, Refilwe Nkwinika (22) from Hospital View in Tembisa, is aiming high to succeed in the beauty industry.
Nkwinika, who owns a beauty salon, said she graduated as a beautician and struggled to find a job.
“I decided to open my own beauty salon called ‘The View Beauty Spa’. I did not struggle much when I opened the salon as I had budgeted the cents I had used in college for lunch. I also sold small items like lip-gloss and sweets to other students. I do not like spending my money on unnecessary things and my parents taught me how to use and save money in order to secure my own future,” she said.
A mother with one child, Nkwinika said she would like to be an inspiration to those women who still depend on men.
“In life, people should learn to work for themselves and achieve from their own efforts. We live in a century where the youth get distracted from achieving their goals by so many things. Employment is scarce. Everyone has an idea for their own business, but not everyone is an entrepreneur,” she added.
According to Nkwinika, people should consider doing intensive research about their business ideas before they start operating. “I want to help create employment for the youth since I am aiming to opening several exclusive beauty salons in different places,” she explained.
