The Tembisa SAPS is looking for a suspect who allegedly stole a nine-month-old baby from a Church in Duduza, Tembisa.
The baby was snatched on Thursday last week. The baby’s mother, Ms Portia Thaba, went to church with her baby Tshepang Thaba.
According to the Tembisa SAPS spokesperson, Constable Tebogo Sesing, the victim claimed that a girl who is about 16-years-old asked to play with the child.
The mother agreed as they were in the church yard. The mother presumed that the girl was also a church member.
When she went out to look for her son and the girl, Ms Thaba realised they were nowhere to be found. She rushed back inside the church and reported the matter to the pastor. Members of the church, along with the pastor, started looking for the girl and the baby, but to no avail.
“We are looking for the girl and the baby, and we appeal to members of the community with information about the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the police immediately,” said Const Sesing.
Anyone with information can call Sergeant Thabiso Maela on 071 323 8411.
