THREE Nigerian men were arrested on Sunday in a house on EP Malan Street, Pomona after they were found in possession of drugs with a street value R1 million, as well as substances believed to be used in the manufacturing of drugs.
According to Ivory Park SAPS spokesman, W/O Neldah Sekgobela, Tembisa cluster members visited homes in the area after receiving numerous calls regarding burglaries in the area.
“Upon arrival at one of the houses, the police came across a man carrying a bag with a substance they believed to be drugs. When he was questioned about the contents of the bag, the man told them he was a pastor at of the churches in the area and that he was preparing a meal to be shared with members of the church,” she said.
When the police entered the house along with the dog unit, they discovered that drugs were being manufactured in the house.
“The suspects then admitted to actually cooking the substance in the house as police had also found an orange coloured liquid in buckets. The search in the house and around the yard yielded drugs estimated to have a street value of R1-million,” added Sekgobela.
The police also found R8 000 cash and one of the suspects admitted to supplying dealers in West Street as well as other parts of Johannesburg.
