Open day at Elim Clinic
There are many myths about rehabilitation and detoxification that may scare people and prevent them from asking for help
WHAT can you expect if you decide to go to a drug and alcohol rehab centre?
If you have never been to a rehabilitation centre, you may have some misconceptions about what does and does not take place.
Elim Clinic in Spartan will host an open day on March 25 and invites anyone who is interested to come and see how a rehabilitation centre looks and functions.
“People will be pleasantly surprised,” said Sorika de Swardt, addiction consultant at Elim Clinic.
“There are many myths about rehabilitation and detoxification that may scare people and prevent them from asking for help when they need it most. We would like to show people the friendly and professional side of rehabilitation.”
De Swart said: “First you will find no locked gates and prison bars, people come to us out of their own free will. They are here because they want to change their lifestyles. You might also expect them to look like dangerous gangsters but our patients/students look just like you and I. They are just like you and I. ”
During the open day staff will explain how the programme works and how patients are assisted with medication to withdraw from the drugs (detoxification). They will give information on how to arrange admission and will arrange a short tour through the facilities.
“We will also give more information on our therapeutic programme and there will be a short talk on internet addiction just before we break for refreshments,” said Swart.
Everyone is welcome. RSVP on info@elimclin.co.za or on 011-975-2951
