Karatekas impress

Tembisa’s Mduduzi ” Master Blaster ” Mahlangu took down two opponents within seconds during a karate tournament held in Klerksdorp recently.

Unfortunately, Mahlangu was injured in his third fight after receiving an illegal blow to the face.

According to Sensei Paul “The Dragon” Sehlabela, he pleaded with the referee to not disqualify Mahlangu’s opponent as it seemed like the blow was unintentional.

“It is my philosophy that my students must win tournaments based on clean techniques, not on dubious decisions or the disqualification of opponents,” said Sensei Sehlabela.

“I tell my students that we represent the people of Tembisa, Gauteng and South Africa at these tournaments. Therefore, we cannot afford mediocrity. I want quality karatekas in Tembisa, not mediocre ones.”

Sensei Sehlebela said he is satisfied the club is not short-changing the people of Tembisa.

“We represent the community fully, with the required commitment from the participants,” said Sensei Sehlebela.
