Special votes

All Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) offices were open until April 17 for special voter registrations.

Special votes are only open to those who are unable to cast their votes on May 7 at their designated voting stations.

Home visits for special votes can also be applied for and include those residents who, due to health reasons, will be unable to visit a voting station on May 7.

Other special votes include police officers, emergency services workers and party agents.

Original special voter registration papers need to be completed and handed in to the IEC offices.

Someone other than the signatory can take the paper to the IEC offices on their behalf, as long as it is correctly filled in.

Home visits will only be done for residents who are correctly registered in the ward in which they are living.
