Tembisan activist heading to parliament
Veteran activist, Mr Sello Ali Tleane, is number 22 on the Province for the National candidate list of the ANC.
He will be deployed to parliament after yesterday’s general election on May 7.
According to Mr Aubrey Langa, who is the secretary of the ANC’s Andrew Mapheto branch, Mr Tleane is currently the chairperson of the Oupa Nkadimeng branch and a willing volunteer for the party.
In addition, Mr Langa said Mr Tleane has occupied several important positions and roles within the party over the years.
Mr Tleane played a pivotal role in the struggles waged by the people of Tembisa and the surrounding areas during the tough years of apartheid, which included the establishment of street committees.
After 1990, he was one of a privileged group of activists selected by the ANC to undergo training in local government and public finance management in the USA, Canada, Germany and locally.
“We believe he will add value to the noble work of parliament as an ANC public representative and adequately represent the people of our sub-region. We are calling on all Tembisa residents from different political parties to go out in big numbers and vote for the political party of their choice,” said Mr Langa.
