Tembisa Community Awards nominations open
Bakgotsi Productions will host the Tembisa Community Awards on November 1.
The awards will be held at the Rabasotho Hall in Sithama Section.
The managing director of Bakgotsi, Ms Sweetness Ntuli, said the awards cater for people from Tembisa, Ivory Park, Midrand, Clayville and Kempton Park. Contenders are judged on performances made in the previous year. Nominees and winners are chosen through a multiphase process of judging panels with the exception of the Best Artist of the Year, which is chosen by the public.
Some awards are discretionary and are only presented in special cases.
The awards are the equivalent of the SAFTAs, SAMAs and the SABC Sports Awards.
The main aim of the awards is to create a community that develops and uplifts neighbourhoods and to encourage young people to cultivate their skills and talents.
“We also want to encourage community members to continue doing well in their specific environment so that they may become leaders within the society and inspire up-coming talent,” said Ms Ntuli.
