Thembisa NPO receives school bags boost from Bopha Foundation

Bopha Foundation donated 50 school bags to learners at Thulakanyo Dzavhathu NPO, supporting education and daily needs while strengthening community efforts to combat poverty and hunger.

Bopha Foundation visited Thulakanyo Dzavhathu NPO on March 26, where they donated 50 school bags to learners in need.

The NPO, based in the Isithama Section of Thembisa, is committed to improving access to education and nutrition for the community.

Through its weekly soup kitchens, the organisation serves approximately 1 000 people daily and provides support through various partnerships and donations. It has also collaborated with McDonald’s to offer haircare services to beneficiaries.

Nonhlanhla Maphangule said the organisation’s primary goal is to ensure that children attend school properly equipped.

“Bopha Foundation visited us to donate school bags to our beneficiaries. Our organisation strives to ensure that learners are fully dressed in school uniform and are supported with food parcels to share with their families.

“We would like to thank the community for their continued support and encourage them not to stop, as it keeps us going every day. For those in need of our services, we are based in the Isithama Section in Thembisa.

“With the support of the Department of Social Development, we ensure that children’s daily and educational needs are met. We are a team of 10 dedicated individuals who work tirelessly to assist the community. Together, we identify children in need and provide the necessary support,” said Maphangule.

Aubrey Baloyi from Bopha Foundation said the organisation partners with various community groups and offers assistance tailored to their specific needs.

“We want to support our people in Thembisa and to encourage organisations to continue the important work they are doing.

“Hunger and unemployment remain serious challenges, which is why we collaborate with those addressing social issues, so that the next generation can focus on their education and stay away from crime.

“We also call on the government to come on board and assist in addressing hunger, which continues to hinder success in many communities. As Bopha Foundation, we have plans to expand into other regions to further support community development.

“We provide monthly funding to organisations on our radar, which helps sustain soup kitchens, cover utilities and meet other essential needs,” said Baloyi.

The event was well attended and warmly received by the community, with children, parents and Bopha Foundation members present in large numbers to assist with the distribution.

The collaboration highlighted the positive impact of organisations working together to support and safeguard the education and well-being of children in Thembisa.
