ALTHOUGH Women’s Day was a cold day, the Rhodesfield community came out in numbers to give their 67 minutes to the painting project arranged by the school governing body (SGB).
The governing body members requested parents to look for sponsors and if not possible, to donate some paint.
The SGB would like to thank their sponsors, Johannes Visagie, an ex-head boy of 2007, for donating 80 litres of paint, Remax Dazzle for more paint and Johan Jacobs & Malcolm Moodie Attorneys for a cheque donation of R500. They also express special gratitude to all their parents, teachers and learners for all the paint contributed and a special thanks to those who gave their time and energy by participating in painting.
“In honour of Women’s Day, we pay tribute to all mothers, gogos, aunts and sisters of Rhodesfield, who juggled their many roles simultaneously to make this day a success,” the SGB said.
Energetic learners, teachers and parents arrived at the school before 8am.
“Just to mention a few, we were also blessed with teachers like Mrs Williams, who was accompanied by her husband, Mrs Zuki Gangxa, who brought along her three daughters and was later joined by her husband and Mr Cornelius, who spent his entire Saturday and also brought along his wife on Sunday to finish up.
“It was also exciting to see our 2014 head boy, Sakhile Twala, followed by his executive team and co-learners, coming out of the bus at noon to paint after their extra classes. They are quoted saying: ‘This school has become our home away from home’.
“We express our gratitude to all the families that contributed to making this important project a success and our tuck shop staff and parents who sustained our tummies.
