Matric pupils shine at local school
The principal of Ingqyayizivele High School in Tembisa, Mr Maebela Mogobe, has attributed his school's achievements to hard work, dedication and the support from the Department of Education.
The school achieved an 89.88 percent pass rate in the 2014 matric results.
“We have extra classes from Monday to Saturday in our school, where teachers and pupils join hands to make sure they work hard every year. We would also like to thank the Department of Education for assisting us with the Secondary Schools Improvement Programe (SSIP). The programme helped us a lot this year, and we are not surprised that we have improved tremendously,” he said.
When asked about preparations for this year’s school calender, he said they will start teaching from the very first day when schools reopen.
“In fact, we will be giving pupils stationery on Saturday, January 10. Our pupils know that we start working from the first day. Teachers will be here on Monday next week to start their preparations, so that when pupils arrive on Wednesday, they will start teaching and learning immediately,” he added.
Phole Shai, one of the pupils who obtained four distinctions, said he will be studying a mechanical engineering degree at the University of Johannesburg this year.
“I am going to work hard to achieve my goals. I have realised that hard work is the only way to prosperity in life,” he said.
