Supporters gather for Maake
The National African Football Supporters Association (NAFSA) hosted a birthday party for its president and national coordinator, Mr Saddam Maake, in Tembisa on Sunday, December 21.
Executive members of the NAFSA from all nine provinces converged on Mr Maake’s house in Hospital View to support him on his 59th birthday.
Orlando Pirates’ number one fan, Ms Joyce Chauke who is also affectionately known as Mama Joice, said as supporters they decided to organise the party to thank Mr Maake for what he has done for supporters.
“Even though he is a Kaizer Chiefs fan, when it comes to the national team, he makes sure he treats us equally. I am happy that most of our supporters are here today to show him how important he is in the NAFSA,” she said.
Mr Maake said what his fellow NAFSA supporters did proves he is doing something good for the NAFSA and the football fraternity at large.
“I am grateful. Even though I have just turned 59, I feel like an 18-year-old teenager. I am going to work even harder to make sure that as supporters, we fill stadiums and support the national team. We are the national team’s 12th player and with our Vuvuzelas behind them, they will bring back the African Cup of Nations Trophy in Equatorial Guinea,” he said.
