The EMPD’s Northern Region Task Team recovered a hijacked truck and arrested two suspects linked to a hijacked e-hailing vehicle in two separate operations conducted in Kempton Park on May 26.
According to EMPD spokesperson Chief Supt Kelebogile Thepa, officers first recovered a hijacked white Hino truck in Willow Street, Kempton Park, after acting on tracking intelligence received from a tracking company.
The truck had reportedly been hijacked earlier in the Centurion area.

“At approximately 11:14, members followed up on the tracking coordinates and proceeded to Willow Street, where the truck was located abandoned,” said Thepa.
No driver or suspects were found at the scene, and the owner did not arrive while officers were present.
The scene was secured and processed by the EMPD Northern Region Task Team.
The vehicle was later impounded and booked into the SAPS pound in Benoni for further investigation. No arrests have been made in connection with the truck hijacking.
In a separate operation earlier the same day, the EMPD Northern Task Team arrested two suspects and recovered a hijacked e-hailing vehicle in Birch Acres.

Thepa said officers responded to tracking coordinates supplied by a vehicle tracking company after the fleet vehicle was hijacked overnight in the Kempton Park area.
The vehicle was found stationary in Namakwaduif Street. After interviewing bystanders, officers were led to a nearby residence in Carl Davies Street.
“On tactical entry, two male suspects were found on the property. A family member confirmed they had arrived with the vehicle earlier that morning,” said Thepa.
The suspects, aged 27 and 32, were arrested and charged with possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of suspected stolen property.
During a search of the premises, officers recovered the complainant’s personal belongings as well as the vehicle keys. The recovered vehicle and property were processed and booked in with the SAPS.
The suspects are expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.
The EMPD commended the Northern Region Task Team for the swift recovery operations and arrests.
