Top student obtains 7 distinctions

One of Christian Brothers College Boksburg’s top five students is Kempton Park’s Justin van Tonder

A Kempton Park teenager was the top matric achiever at Christian Brothers’ College Boksburg last year with seven distinctions.

Justin van Tonder obtained distinctions in the IEB Examinations for Afrikaans, English, history, life orientation, life sciences, mathematics and physical science.

“Justin enrolled at CBC Boksburg in grade 8 in 2010 after completing his primary education at Aston Manor Primary School, where he was also head boy,” said J Connell, the college headmaster.

“During his years at CBC, Justin proved to be a very dedicated and hard-working student who was also committed to the College Outreach Programme (Edmund Rice Society) of which he was a leader. He earned a number of awards for academic achievement and was granted colours and honours for service to the college. Justin also participated in sport, playing hockey and cricket,” he added.

Van Tonder will be studying towards a Bachelor of Information Technology degree at the University of Pretoria from 2015.

“We wish him every success in his chosen degree and we have no doubt that he will apply the same excellent work ethic to his university studies as he did during his school career,” Connell further said.

The college achieved a 100% pass rate with 90% of the boys attaining university entrance.

48 Boys sat for the IEB examinations and 24 earned 51 distinctions among them.
