Post boxes available at Modderfontein Post Office

Boxes cost R363 a year at normal rates and R218 for pensioners

MODDERFONTEIN Post Office has a few post boxes available for the public to rent as a result of the redevelopment of the local Modderfontein shopping precinct.

“Because it has been so difficult to obtain a box in Modderfontein in the past, there are many people who would like a box but have given up trying to get one,” said the post office’s Carol Nel.

For the time being, the post office is occupying temporary premises on Queen Street while the new Lakeside Village Shopping Centre is under construction. Eventually it will be accommodated in the new building but only in about two years’ time.

Boxes cost R363 a year at normal rates or R218 for pensioners. The cost is calculated on a pro rata basis between February and December.

The new Lakeside Village Shopping Centre will have many other attractions on its facility, including restaurants, fast food outlets, retail stores, supermarkets, health and beauty stores. It is also planned to include an outdoor organic market twice a week.

The first phase of the development, a state-of-the-art Shell Service Station, is on the brink of opening. It has a Shell Shop and the Buonissimo! Italian Restaurant, previously situated in the old shopping centre, has moved to the forecourt.

The centre is being developed by the Nevada Property Group which was also responsible for the Green Valley Shopping Centre on Greenstone Hill.
