Ambulance drops son’s body at mother’s home
Bloom: 'Health authorities should always act with sensitivity in matters involving the tragedy of death'
THE DA expressed its horror after an ambulance had dropped off the body of a man who died in hospital, at his mother’s house.
Jack Bloom, DA Gauteng Shadow MEC for Health, said the body of Sithembile Mdinge (31) was transported from the Far East Rand Hospital to his mother’s home on Tuesday.
According to his mother. Virginia Mdingi, he was still alive after arriving at the hospital on Tuesday. She was shocked when the ambulance took his body home instead of to a government mortuary.
The family is unemployed and getting the body to a private undertaker involved additional trauma.
“The Gauteng Health Department must investigate this matter and hold people accountable for this inhuman action,” Bloom said.
“Health authorities should always act with sensitivity in matters involving the tragedy of death.”
