Load shedding: power grid will remain constrained for the rest of summer

The electricity supply system on Friday remains very vulnerable due to a shortage of generation capacity as several units are currently out of service due to planned and unplanned outages.

Any unforeseen incident in the power system will thus trigger the implementation of load shedding.

This being Eskom’s maintenance season, they expect the power grid to remain constrained for the rest of the summer.

Eskom will continue to provide regular updates on the status of the power system through all media platforms.
