Two killed, 24 injured as taxis collide on R25

Two people were killed and 24 injured when two taxis collided on the R25 near Bapsfontein on Sunday afternoon.

Russel Meiring, ER24 spokesman, said paramedics found the two vehicles in the veld next to the road.

On inspection,  paramedics discovered that two men had sustained fatal injuries in the collision.

Twenty-four other patients were found lying around the scene, four of them critically injured. Paramedics set out treating the patients as well as providing the critically injured with advanced life support.

Once all the patients were treated, they were transported to various hospitals for further treatment.

The cause of the collision is not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
