Prophet ‘turns twins into baby girl’

Not sure what to believe any more, the highly expectant mother of one at the time dismissed the incident

BLESSING Dube and her husband Oristan couldn’t contain their excitement when they found out she was pregnant with twin boys just over two years.

But when a healthy baby girl instead of twin boys were born on November 10, 2013, she started doubting modern technology, as the 29-year-old had been to a clinic, hospital and private doctor, who all confirmed she was having twins.

“My husband and I started buying baby clothes for boys, and double of everything: the shoes, baby jumpers, booties, everything. We even decided on the names,” Dube recounted the story as she did a client’s hair at her salon business in Kempton Park.

The couple decided they would name their boys Jeremiah and Joshua.

On November 3, a few days before giving birth, Dube was surprised when a prophet, Philip Banda, at her Joburg church, told her she’d be having a baby girl. When Dube explained to him that doctors said she’d be having twin boys, the prophet still insisted the baby would be a girl.

“He even gave her a name, Sarah.”

Not sure what to believe any more, the highly expectant mother of one at the time dismissed the incident.

What transpired a few days later would shock Dube and her husband (and clinic staff alike) and would surely make anyone believe in the splendour of miracles.

Dube gave birth to a healthy, crying baby girl at Etafeni Clinic in Tembisa, just as the prophet had foreseen.

“We named her Busisiwe Sarah Dube.”

But how?

Dube had visited the Civic Centre Clinic on a Monday morning, four months into her pregnancy, where nurses told her they heard two heart beats and referred her to Tembisa Hospital for a scan.

“I went to Tembisa Hospital exactly a week later, where they confirmed after a scan that I was pregnant with twins, but they couldn’t tell me the gender of the babies because they didn’t have the technology.

Dube then consulted a private doctor at about five or six months, who also confirmed she was having twin boys.

“So you see, after this incident, I learned that even the best modern technology cannot surpass the powers of the Lord, and that my baby truly is a blessing from God.”

She says this as her eyes drift off lovingly to her daughter, now a year and four months old, who is sitting on her blanket on the salon floor, playing with and deeply absorbed into her Lego building blocks.
