Gogo celebrates 100th birthday
"I raised our children by myself. I knew my husband will always be there for me in spirit."
Ms Anna Mguni celebrated her 100th birthday party flanked by friends, family and neighbours.
The celebrations took place at her home in Endulweni Section on Saturday.
The surprise birthday party was arranged by Ms Mguni’s children and was held on Saturday.
The great-grandmother of 26 children can cook, wash and iron for herself.
According to Ms Mguni, her secret to a long life is to have respect for everybody, no matter young or old.
“I respected my parents and anyone on the street. I also respect myself,” she said.
She added that her husband died while their children were still young.
“I raised our children by myself. I knew my husband will always be there for me in spirit,” she added.
Her fourth child, Ms Grace Ramashala, said they are happy and proud to have their mother.
“She likes to do things for herself. She does not like to rely on anyone. She is a great mother to have and she loves cooking,” she said.
Ms Ramashala added said she learnt respect from her mother.
“She took care of us all. Even today, she still takes care of our children and grandchildren,” she said.
