Unlicensed firearm recovered
The four suspects were arrested in Tembisa, following a tip-off from community members.
Four men in Tembisa were arrested following a tip-off from members of the community.
Two officers from the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department’s (EMPD) Loss Control & Investigations Unit made the arrest.
All four suspects ended up behind bars when suspected stolen property and an unlicensed firearm was found in the Toyota Quantum they were traveling in.
The suspects were arrested at about 11am.
The EMPD spokesperson, Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said, “After following the white Toyota Quantum with four occupants in it for a while, the EMPD officers cornered the vehicle along Andrew Mapheto Drive in Mthambeka Section. Preliminary investigations revealed that the firearm found in their vehicle had a Krugersdorp case number and was stolen last month.”
All four suspects are Zimbabweans, aged between 28 and 40.
They were charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition at the Tembisa Police Station.
