POLICE are on the hunt for a man responsible for opening fire on traffic officers at around 7.30pm on Sunday at the corner of Public and King Fisher streets in Ebony Park, Tembisa.
Acting Norkem Park SAPS and stand-by Tembisa Cluster spokesman, W/O Mahlodi Langa, said traffic officers were directing traffic at the intersection as the traffic lights were not working.

“The unknown male opened fire and wounded two officers. One was shot in both legs and in the back, while the other officer was shot in the chin. The female traffic officer was not hurt,” explained Langa.
Both officers were taken to Netcare Sunninghill Hospital.
“A motorist who was on that road in his Polo was hit by a bullet which went through his rear door,” he added.
After firing 21 cartridges, the suspect fled on foot.
Police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
