Bonaero Park burglar linked to Sebenza housebreaking case

A gun with ammunition was also found in the suspect's car

A 33-year-old man who was seen suspiciously jumping the wall of a Bonaero Park home was arrested on Tuesday afternoon last week.

Kempton police spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali, said the man was seen jumping the wall of a Forel Street home and then going inside. He was later spotted leaving and getting into his car.

“One of our sector vehicles was called and upon arrival found CMS Security had already apprehended the suspect.”

Upon searching the man’s Fiat, police found a range of goods including clothes, jewellery and appliances such as a heater, DVD players, digital camera, cellphones, computers and TV remote controls.

A gun with ammunition was also found in the suspect’s car.

“The suspect could not account for the property and the gun. Later it was discovered the goods were allegedly linked to a housebreaking case being investigated at Sebenza SAPS,” said Mtshali.

The suspect was charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and possession of suspected stolen goods.
