Domestic worker busted with R3 000 jewellery and furniture polish

The items were stolen when she conducted spring cleaning in her employer's home

A 55-year-old domestic worker was arrested on Fred Els Street, Norkem Park, on Saturday, September 5, for theft.

According to Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, the woman was arrested at about 4pm on the day.

“The complainant alleges she realised that her jewellery and a multi-surface cleaner were missing after the domestic worker conducted spring cleaning in the house. The employer alleged she asked the domestic worker to accompany her to her room and searched her bag,” explained Molokomme.

She then found the items in the domestic worker’s bag.

Police were called to the scene and the suspect was arrested for theft of properties valued at R3000.

Other suspects arrested over the weekend by Norkem Park SAPS include two for assault, two for driving under the influence of alcohol, two for possession of dagga, two for attempted attempted robbery and possession of a toy gun, and one for attempted murder.
