Various Pick n Pay branches around Kempton, including Birchleigh North, Elgin, Kempton Gate, Van Riebeeck Park, Glen Marais, Bonaero Park and Brentwood Park donated non-perishable food and other groceries.

The drive received over 200kg of mealie meal, 75kg of rice and about 50kg of pasta. The rest was tinned foods and nappies which were desperately needed for the children. They also received toiletries and cleaning goods.

The groceries are still being distributed to needy people around Norkem Park.

“If it were not for Pick n Pay, we would not have managed to succeed. We will try to run this charity drive for the police every year,” Margaret Alberts-Ross of Van Riebeeck CPF said.

Alberts-Ross, on behalf of the CPF, would like to thank residents of Van Riebeeck Park and everyone else who also donated non-perishable goods, clothing items and toys.

“Also, a huge thank you to Dawn Britz and her husband John, who also made donations to the project.”

Nouwens Carpets also delivered rugs.
