Ekurhuleni to educate community about cancer

For those who are interested, health screenings for different types of cancers will be conducted.

October is Breast Cancer month, and in driving awareness, the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) launched its Cancer Awareness campaign at the Zonkizizwe Community Hall today.

Themed “Living Healthy to Beat Cancer”, the campaign will see community members receive information about the causes of cancer, the different types of cancers, as well as interventions to prevent and manage cancer.

After Friday, health care practitioners will visit the Tsakane old age home on Friday, October 23, and the Sam Hlalele hall on Friday, October 30. Starting time is 9am to 3pm.

For those who are interested, health screenings for different types of cancers will be conducted.

This includes pap smears, breast cancer and prostate cancer screenings.
