A woman was stabbed and robbed of her cellular phone on October 19 in Sithama Section.
The 34-year-old woman was waiting for her child at Mvelaphanda Primary School when she was confronted by two men.
Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said one of the men closed her eyes with his hand.
“His accomplice searched her and took her phone. They stabbed the woman in her stomach.
“Members of the community who were in the area then chased the men. Members of the SAPS who were in the area saw what was happening and also gave chase,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
The SAPS later arrested one suspect who was found in possession of the cellular phone that was taken from the woman.
The sharp object that was used to stab the woman was also found in his possession.
Capt Ralizdhivha said the police traced the second suspect and found him hiding in a tavern a kilometre away from the scene.
“The suspects, 34 and 38 years old, were detained at the Tembisa Police Station. The woman was immediately taken to hospital for treatment. The men will appear in the Tembisa ‘s Magistrate’s Court soon,” he said.
