Two men, aged 22 and 23, were found murdered in the early morning hours with their throats slit, allegedly with a sharp object.
The bodies of Mr James Nkosi (23) and Mr Koketso Madiba (22) were found by community members in a walk path between Kanana Section and Mayibuye. Community members notified the SAPS.
At the scene of crime, both the grieving families were deeply saddened by their children’s deaths.
“It is unbelievable – it is our child lying dead on the ground. We were with him last night and he left to go to a street soccer game at Kanana,” said Ms Dudu Nkosi, an aunt of Mr Madiba.
“He was a neat, humble and kind person,” Ms Nkosi added.
The Rabie Ridge SAPS’ Constable Jacob Nhlongo said the men, accompanied by another two persons, were attacked by five unknown men at about 1am when the group of four were on their way to a street bash in Kanana Section.
“The other two managed to escape from the attackers. It is believed the unknown men met the victims and told them to give them a chance to pass through the walk path first.
“After having passed they asked the victims why were drunk. One of the suspects then fired a shot. Nobody was injured by gunshot,” Const Nhlongo said.
Const Nhlongo added police are investigating the murders.
“All of the suspects are still on the run. We appeal to members of the community to help with any information that could lead to the arrests of the suspects.”
