IN-DEPTH investigations are underway following the recovery of a hijacked truck in Spartan on Thursday.
According to Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, preliminary investigations and information from independent witnesses revealed two BMWs sedans were escorting the truck. More startling information received was that a fully-branded private security sedan was part of the vehicles escorting the hijacked truck.

The private security vehicle was later found abandoned at the intersection of Pretoria Road and Park Street, Kgasago said.
“A tip-off received from a reliable source on Thursday afternoon was acted upon by officers from the Kempton Precinct which led to the recovery of the truck with its cargo of laptops and cellphones valued at thousands of rands. The truck, still with its cargo untouched, was found with one suspect inside on Forge Road in Spartan.
“The first responder to the scene called for backup from the EMPD Loss Control members who swiftly responded. A male suspect in his late 30s was apprehended.”
