JERRY Kwapeng Madihlaba, the man who murdered a Bredell resident in January, will spend the next 35 years of his life behind bars.
The 33-year-old was sentenced on Monday in the Palm Ridge Court for the murder of Wayne Edmond Andrew Panigel during a house robbery.

Panigel’s naked body was discovered by his father in the bedroom of his Shannon Road home on the night of January 16. The 46-year-old had bruised genitals and had marks around his neck from being strangled.
According to Kempton police spokesperson, Capt Jethro Mtshali, Madihlaba entered Panigel’s home on the night at about 9pm where he strangled him to death.
He then stole various items such as a television, cellphone, printer and a Mazda 3 that belonged to the victim.
Madihlaba was arrested the same night, along with another suspect, who had since been released as he could not be linked to the crime. The arrest took place in Bronkhorstspruit while he was driving the deceased’s car.
“The matter was handled by the dedicated Det W/O Robert Motsai, who, through thorough investigations, was able to bring the accused to justice,” Mtshali said.
