POLICE are looking for a man linked to a robbery that took place at Absa Bank in Birchleigh North Shopping Centre on the corner of Mooifontein and Strydom streets, on Monday at around 10:45am.
The man allegedly walked into the bank and threatened to bomb the building if he wasn’t given money.

“The suspect entered the bank and asked the security guard for the manager. He was taken to the acting manager’s office. When they were seated and alone in the office, the suspect allegedly took out a hand grenade from his bag and threatened to blow up the entire bank,” said Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme.
“He demanded money from the acting manager who went to the tellers and gave him an undisclosed amount of cash.”
Pictures of the alleged suspect from CCTV footage in the bank have been circulating on social media platforms.
Molokomme could not confirm whether these images were taken from the footage.
