A man was shot and injured when he pointed an unlicensed firearm at police officers on Sunday in Rabie Ridge.
The 32-year-old man has since been charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Captain Manyadza Ralidzhivha said police officers stopped a vehicle while they were on patrol. When the officers went to search the passenger, the driver produced a firearm and pointed the weapon at the officers.
“He was shot in his lower body. A 9mm pistol with the serial number filed off was found lying next to him. The firearm had one live round of ammunition. He was taken to hospital for treatment and is under police guard,” said the Capt Ralidzhivha.
