Man dies after being pushed down stairs at nightclub

The suspect was identified by the security officer when the police arrived

A night out at a Pretoria Road nightclub turned into a murder scene on Friday night, last week.

A 31-year-old man was charged with murder for killing a man by pushing him down the stairs.

According to Capt Jethro Mtshali, spokesperson for the Kempton SAPS, police were summoned to the scene at about 11.50pm.

“Police arrested a 31-year-old suspect for murder at Club 88 liquor outlet on Pretoria Road, Kempton Park,” Mtshali said.

He continued to explain the events leading to the death of the victim:

“It is alleged that the victim and the suspect had an argument and the suspect allegedly pushed the victim, who fell on his back. The victim was certified dead by paramedics,” Mtshali confirmed.

The suspect, who was still at the scene, was identified by the security officer when the police arrived.

He appeared in court on Monday on a charge of murder.
