Woman (78) arrested for beating four-year-old for stealing peaches

The suspect will face a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm

A 78-year-old woman was arrested for assault on November 7 at the Esselen Park RDP houses for assaulting a four-year-old child.

Norkem Park SAPS spokesman, Capt Lesibana Molokomme, said the alleged victim, together with other children, was found by the suspect stealing peaches at her house.

“The suspect caught the little one, allegedly tied her up and beat her with her open hands and shoes. The suspect was arrested by the police after the mother of the victim opened a case of assault due to the serious injuries sustained by the child,” Molokomme explained.

The suspect will face a charge of assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm.
