TWO police officers of Crystal Park SAPS were wounded on High Road this morning after being involved in a shoot-out with alleged hijackers.
According to the police they were following a truck which was hijacked in Secunda earlier. The abandoned truck was later found in Kempton Park. Three rifles were recovered – one was hidden in a dustbin.
One suspect was arrested in a nearby complex.
Huge traffic delays can be expected. High Road, from Lennox to Thomas roads, is closed as investigations continue.
Traffic from Kempton Park is being diverted to Stanley Road. Please consider alternative routes.

Michele Norman wrote on Facebook: “Scariest way to wake up!!! And then watching all the action from your window, got chased back into the house cause perps were still in the complex, can’t get to work, complex is a crime scene.”
Brig Poobalan Subbiah, acting Benoni SAPS cluster commander, told Benoni City Times the officers were driving in separate vehicles behind a marked courier vehicle, as they were running checks on it. One of the hijackers was shot and wounded by the courier vehicle’s support team.
