A man (22) was arrested at Emmangwenn Section during the early hours of November 12 after he was caught breaking into a motor vehicle.
“He was spotted by police officers who were on patrol in the section. The man was carrying a motor vehicle battery and four mats,” said Captain Ralidzhivha.
“They asked where he found the goods and the man told the officers he had stolen them from a car parked in the same street,” said Capt Ralidzhivha.
The man took the police officers to the house where the car was parked.
According to Capt Rowalizhivha, the officers woke up the owner. The owner was unaware his car had been broken in to.
“The SAPS asked him to check if his car had been broken in to. He found the bonnet wide open, the side window was broken and his mats were missing. He identified the mats and battery as his property,” he said.
He went to the police station and opened a case of theft from motor vehicle.
The man was charged with possession of stolen property and he is detained at the Tembisa Police Station.
