Seotloana Primary School acknowledged its best academic achievers during an awards ceremony that was hosted on Friday.
All the pupils who achieved high marks from grade 1 to 7 were awarded medals and certificates for improving their academic results.
The overall outstanding achievers were awarded medals, certificates and trophies.
The grade 7 overall outstanding achiever, Temosho Malautsi, was the highest scoring pupil in grade 6 last year.
Reabetswe Ramaleba is this year’s grade 6 overall outstanding achiever, shining with five certificates for scoring top marks.
Malautsi, who was seen in tears of joy when she was rewarded for her achievements, said she felt excited and proud to have retained her title as the best pupil in the school.
Malautsi lost her mother and brother when she was only six years old in a car crash.
From then, young Malautsi has been cared for by her two sisters.
Malautsi said success is never final, failure is never fatal, it is courage that counts.
“Do not be afraid of life. Believe that life is worth living. This belief will help create and nurture your minds with great thoughts,” said Malautsi.
Ramaleba said she was not expecting all these best results.
“My book is my friend. My mom would regularly say to me that a strong girl always has a book by her side. I am excited and proud of my hard work,” said Ramaleba.
Her father, Mr Thato More, said his daughter has achieved excellent results.
“I am proud of, and humbled by, my girl. I want her to study even harder in order to excel in the future,” said Mr More.
Seotloana Primary School’s principal, Mr Tabudi Ramokgopa, said since they have been hosting the awards ceremony, the pupils are working hard to be among the top performers.
“This awards ceremony encourages us, the staff, the school’s governing body and the pupils, to work harder. I hope they will always strive to be their absolute best,” said Mr Ramokgopa.
