A Birchleigh family, who lost their vehicle during a house robbery on Wednesday evening, got their car back the same night.
Chief Supt Wilfred Kgasago, metro police spokesman, said the robbers struck just before 9pm and took the family’s VW Polo.
“A look-out for the stolen red Polo was received at 9.07pm by the EMPD. Just under 40 minutes following the look-out message, the metro police had tracked the vehicle to Madagascar Crescent at Esiphethweni Section in Tembisa. The vehicle had been abandoned,” Kgasago said.
The recovered vehicle was towed to the police pound at Van Rijn Deep in Benoni.
The hunt is on for the culprits.
