THE South African Police Service (SAPS) has warned about an online recruitment scam currently operating in the country.
The scammers invite unsuspecting job seekers to apply for bogus “police trainee posts”.

The police advise the public not to fall for such a scam. There has not been any new advertisement from the police for entry level trainees and as such there are no vacant posts available for aspiring police officers currently.
Furthermore, the police would like to remind the public that they do not advertise any posts via SMSs. When there are any vacancies in the organisation, posts are advertised in newspapers and the application form is available for free at all police stations.
“We view this scam in a very serious light and have instituted an investigation to find the perpetrators. Those who have fallen victim to these heartless criminals are urged to contact their nearest police station.”
