Rabie Ridge SAPS and business owners join forces in fight against crime

According to the Rabie Ridge SAPS, in November alone they recorded eight murders and 14 murders in October.

The Rabie Ridge SAPS met with business owners on December 2 to discuss various means of fighting crime this festive season.

Captain Rushen Alwar said this is a partnership between business, Community Police Forums and Business Forums to patrol the streets.

He said the area has high levels of crime and it needs to be managed.

According to the Rabie Ridge SAPS, in November alone they recorded eight murders and 14 murders in October.

Local businesswoman asserted that these victims could possibly have been patrons at local taverns.

It was agreed that taverns will switch off music at midnight and will close their premises at 1am.

Captain Rushen Alwar said businesses partaking in the forum and patrolling are coerced, but it is on voluntary basis.

Businesses are implored to abide by these resolutions for the safety of their customers and general civilians.
